Summer's Over, Fall's Beginning!

It was a neck to neck race all the way to the finish line! This summer’s top teen readers, Zoe W. and Sara C. were just 40 minutes apart at the conclusion of the Texas Teens Read program. Zoe clocked in with 1490 minutes; Sara with 1450… a little over 24 hours apiece!

The group total for the summer was 4500 minutes (or 75 hours!)!

In addition to competing for highest reader, the boys were also competing against the girls for the choice of a home-cooked meal. In the great Nachos vs. Spaghetti Race, the girls won and spaghetti was slurped in conjunction with a “baby shower” night in honor of Baby Girl Renshaw.

As Teen Library Leaguers head back to school, we’ll exchange water balloons for caramel apples this month and unpack some popular school year activities such as Game Night and Book-commercials. We also look forward to future Dinner with a Friend (sponsored by various members of the Friends of the Kingsland Library) and a host of other fall activities!

Kingsland Teen Library Leaguers show off brownies made by KLB volunteer and Friends of the KLB member, Iris Biediger for the group. Biediger also brought sliced oranges and Friends member, Barbara Brauns shared chips and dip with the group. A very big thank you to these special ladies for walking an extra mile to make a difference in the lives of our library leaguers! Thanks to their generosity and that of one of our faithful community sponsors, 16 students (and 2 TLL sponsors) enjoyed a wonderful meal!

Easter Eggstravaganza tonight from 4:30-6:30. Come prepared to get messy!

St. Patrick's Day Celebration

Extra hurrah points will be given to anyone dressing as a leprechaun, banshee, or pooka.

Klaps and Kudos for Teen Volunteers!

Five and a half claps for the tremendous effort put forth by members of the Kingsland Teen Library League during preparation for this year's Texas Reading Club!

Several teens were recruited in the early stages of preparation for the summer program and have been busily working on decorations, craft preparation, and set pieces for the last several weeks. Now that TRC is in full swing, other members of the TLL have joined to serve as group volunteers in the various classes.

In August, many of these extraordinary members of the League will be taking part in the Texas Teens Read program; think: banana jousting, need we say more?!
